The Victorian Comprehensive Cancer Centre (VCCC) is a powerful alliance of eight successful Victorian organisations committed to Cancer control: Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre, Melbourne Health (including The Royal Melbourne Hospital), The University of Melbourne, the Walter & Eliza Hall Institute of Medical Research, The Royal Women's Hospital, The Royal Children's Hospital, Western Health and St.Vincent's Hospital Melbourne.  The vision for the VCCC is to save lives through the integration of cancer research, education and patient care.  Through innovation and collaboration, the Victorian VCCC will drive the next generation of improvements in prevention, detection and cancer treatment.

 

Reporting to the Executive Director, the Business Manager is responsible for the leadership, development and management of the financial sustainability of the organisation.

 

Key responsibilities:

  • Helping identify possible funding sources
  • Preparing business case evaluations and cost/benefit analysis of funding opportunities
  • Development of business cases and governance structure for key components of the organisation
  • Working with research offices and programs for member organisations to improve business processes, to attract new funding and develop collaborative programs
  • Development of financial management policies to ensure the ongoing financial viability of the organisation
  • Management and development of the business financial control system and audit framework to manage and mitigate risk (financial and investment)
  • Delivery of all financial statutory, regulatory and performance reporting requirements supported by active monitoring of financial legislative and state government policy changes to ensure all business activities are compliant and in line with all professional and ethical standards
  • Delivery of management reporting and business cases to assist in the financial decision making of the business
  • To act as company secretary

Requirements:

  • High level tertiary qualifications as well as CA/CPA accreditations
  • Demonstrated experience as a business manager in a multi-disciplinary organisation in either public or private sector
  • Strong, influential communication skills and ability to develop business cases for government or health sector organisations
  • Proven track record managing large teams (experience in a joint venture environment will be highly regarded)
  • Strong business acumen
  • Working knowledge of MYOB
