Youth Outreach Service (YOS) Part Time 24 hours/ week Fixed Term for 12 months About YOS The Salvation Army Youth Outreach Service offers a supportive environment where, through compassionate and skilled service, youth "at risk" can find hope and achieve their potential. We aim to contact and engage with young people 12 to 20 years of age (inclusive) who are "at risk" of homelessness or are homeless and / or in need of support. The role: Through the Mission and Values of the Salvation Army offer support and assistance to Management in the recruitment and orientation of volunteers and student placements within YOS, the management of tenancy within the externally supported accommodation program and activities related to seeking funding and maintaining YOS policies and procedures. To be successful for this role, you will have (essential criteria); - Understanding of and empathy with the Christian faith, values and ethos of The Salvation Army and ability to model this commitment and to offer pastoral assistance in day to day work activities
- Tertiary or other qualifications within Community Services, Social Work or similar discipline, or extensive relevant experience with a minimum of Certificate IV qualifications.
- Ability to liaise and work within a multi-disciplinary team both internally and externally.
- Strong problem solving, decision making and evaluation skills.
- High level of interpersonal skills including the ability to consult and negotiate with a range of internal and external clients.
- Demonstrated ability to deal with unpredictable situations and behaviour, violence and problems associated with homelessness, substance abuse and psychiatric conditions.
- First Aid Certificate
- Current Drivers' licence
- Evidence of further professional development and extensive knowledge in legislative requirements that govern this type of environment
