Family Workers - Supported Playgroups Program
(3 days a week - Permanent Part-Time)

Koorana Child and Family Services is a community owned organisation committed to the provision of high quality family support, early childhood education and intervention services to children and families in Sydneys Inner West, Canterbury and Bankstown LGAS.

We are seeking an experienced, energetic and qualified Family Worker to join our successful Supported Playgroups program.

The program supports families of children under school age who may be experiencing isolation or other life challenges. Our Supported Playgroups program provides parenting information, a forum to model positive child and family interactions, and links families to community based networks.

This position supports two specialist groups working with young parents under the age of 25. The successful applicant will work within a professional family services team providing a range of flexible and creative family services within a multi-disciplinary framework.

Essential:

The successful applicant will:

  • Welfare qualification and/or other training with relevant experience
  • Experience working in a strengths based model with families and young children
  • Demonstrated experience working within a culturally diverse community
  • Knowledge of Early Childhood Intervention and experience in inclusive practices,
  • Experience in direct service delivery of family support programs and community development,
  • Excellent written, oral and interpersonal communication skills
  • Have a working knowledge of relevant government legislation
  • Computer literate in a windows environment
  • Full Drivers Licence and be comfortable transporting families in a Koorana vehicle
  • Current First Aid Certificate

Desirable:

  • Working Knowledge of the Inner West, Canterbury and Bankstown LGAS and related services
  • The ability to speak a community language
