Mental Health Service Peer Recovery Worker -PART TIME (PHaMS)

Communify Qld is an established community organisation based in Bardon, Brisbane. We provide a range of services with a focus on reaching disadvantaged and vulnerable population groups in the Inner North/ Inner North Western suburbs. We offer an innovative, creative and flexible workplace setting.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, innovative and skilled Peer worker to join our Personal Helpers and Mentors program (PHaMS) in a part time role. PHaMS is funded by FaHCSIA and is committed to creating and implementing community-based support in ways which maximise the individuals ability to control their lives and decisions that affect them.

In this position you will be responsible for

  • Driving and developing a Peer Support Network for S.E. Qld by lobbying and collaborating with other stakeholders.
  • Maintaining and supporting a diverse caseload of PHaMS participants.
  • Promoting a team culture where the views and preferences of stakeholders recovery are recognised and respected.
  • Providing education and support to the PHaMS stakeholders about the personal experience of living with mental illness.
  • Providing support to participants from the perspective of someone who has already lived or experienced the recovery journey.

The successful applicant will have qualifications and/or equivalent experience in mental health services and demonstrating enthusiasm towards the development of mental health understanding in the community.

You

  • Have direct lived experience of mental illness and the willingness to share this with others.
  • Have the ability to develop and support effective working relationships with a variety of stakeholders in an ethical framework.
  • Must have strong communication, interpersonal and organisational skills and proven ability to work collaboratively as part of a busy, multifunctioning professional team.

A commitment to working within a social justice framework utilising technical knowledge of mental health issues is essential.
